The second edition of the University Diploma in linguistic legislation and linguistic rights closes successfully

During the month of May, the Second Edition of the University Diploma in linguistic legislation and linguistic rights took place at the UIB. Directed by Dr. Antoni Llabrés Fuster and Dr. María Ballester Cardell, both professors in the Department of Public Law at the UIB and members of the LIDIB, the diploma addresses the legal and jurisprudential framework of the Catalan language in Spain and the linguistic rights that derive from it, with special reference to the situation in the Balearic Islands.

Experts in linguistic legislation and linguistic rights have addressed key issues in this area, such as the problems that characterize the legal regulation of the coexistence of languages in multilingual contexts, the legal-linguistic model of the Spanish Constitution of 1978, the legal regime of the Catalan language in the different territories that pertain to its linguistic domain, as well as the linguistic rights of the Catalan speakers and the mechanisms that guarantee their protection.
